The Human Motion Institute's Orthopedic and Spine Program at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center (ELMC) is the ONLY Program in Colorado to earn The National Quality Seal from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.

Two areas the Joint Commission recognized during the 2009 survey include:
1. Exceptional clinical outcomes
- Less than 1% infection rate in orthopedic surgical patients, less than the national average.
- 93% of surveyed elective joint patients say their pain is significantly reduced six months after surgery.
- Over 85% have significant improvement in walking six months after surgery.
2. Outstanding patient, family and community education
- Over 85% of all elective patients are educated prior to surgery ensuring better clinical outcomes.
- Ongoing FREE Community Educational events on the prevention and treatment of orthopedic and spinal conditions.
Other Quality Features of Our Program:
- Nurse Practitioner rounds on all patients ensuring a concentrated attention to pain management.
- Uniquely qualified staff specifically trained on the care of the orthopedic/spine patient.
- Average length of stay for elective joint patients is about one day less than Medicare allowable.
- Nearly 80% of our patients are discharged directly to home.
